• The program brings together students from diverse universities worldwide, fostering a truly international learning environment.
Benefits
• Gain academic enrichment in an international classroom.
• Experience the unique cultural and historical environment of Venice.
• Build global networks and broaden perspectives for both academic and personal growth.
Purpose
The program aims to reward students who demonstrate outstanding performance in the Foundations Development Program (FDP or Sabancı University Core Curriculum) by providing them with the opportunity to gain international experience early in their education through participation in the VIU Summer School. This opportunity is designed to inspire students to combine their academic achievements with an international and transformative educational experience. Selected students will be recognized as FDP-VIU Scholars.
Selection Period
Every year students who will attend the VIU Summer School are determined based on their academic performance at the end of the preceding Fall semester. Example: For the summer of 2026, the Fall semester of the 2025-2026 Academic Year will be considered.
Number and Distribution of Students
A total of 6 students will be selected:
- Regular students: From the Fall semester courses MATH 101, NS 101, and SPS 101, the student with the highest score in each course.
- Irregular students: From the Fall semester courses MATH 102, NS 102, and SPS 102, the student with the highest score in each course.
Eligibility Criteria
All candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Must not have received any disciplinary sanction prior to the summer term of participation in the VIU Summer School.
- Must not have NA, F, or W grades on their transcript at the end of the relevant Fall semester.
- Must be taking the relevant course for the first time.
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 at the end of the Fall semester.
- Students exempted from MATH 101 will not be assessed for that course. However, you can still be considered based on your performance in NS 101, SPS 101 and MATH 102.
Highest Scores in Multiple Courses
If a student achieves the highest score in more than one course, only one will be considered, according to the priority order: NS > SPS > MATH. In such cases, the next student in ranking will be considered for the other course(s).
Students do not need to apply. FDD and IRO track results automatically and inform the selected students.
