If a student receives an "F", "U", "NA" or "W" in any of the 101/191 level courses, they will be automatically reregistered for the corresponding course in the upcoming semester. This means they won't have the opportunity to advance to the 102/192 level until they successfully complete the course.

For example, if you face a setback in NS101 during the fall semester you'll have another shot at it in the spring. Once you successfully complete NS101, we'll automatically enroll you in NS102.

It is important to note that irregular students will find themselves, registered for the fall semester course list during the spring semester. Don't worry though - all university courses are available every academic semester.

Absolutely! As a student, you have the flexibility to enroll in up to 20 credits per semester. If you're eager to dive even deeper into your academic journey, you have the opportunity to add an extra course, granting you an additional 3 credits.

Course Registration

No Need to Worry!

Rest assured, your registration for Freshman UCs is a breeze. During the designated registration period (refer to the academic calendar), you'll be automatically enrolled in your Freshman UCs. Please note that any schedule adjustments can only be made during the 'Add & Drop' period

During the 'Add & Drop' period, you have the flexibility to:

  • Add a course (maximum 3 credits).
  • Modify your course sections and schedule.

However, please note that you cannot fully drop the Freshman UCs you are automatically registered for since they are mandatory. The 'Add & Drop' period takes place during the second week of each academic semester. For precise dates, consult the academic calendar.

You can easily change your course section by following the instructions provided at Freshman University Courses - Section Change Instructions

We highly recommend against enrolling in additional courses that have a time conflict with your automatically enrolled University Courses. Generally, time conflict requests for Freshman UCs are not approved.

All students have the option to withdraw from UCs during the 'Withdraw' period as outlined in the academic calendar. For detailed information on the withdrawal process, please visit withdraw course.

Indeed, you have the opportunity to re-enroll in a course to enhance your letter grade. This allows you to focus on your personal growth rather than just grades. Sabancı University provides various chances to improve your GPA. You can retake courses in which you previously received passing grades within a maximum of 3 semesters, excluding summer semesters.

Please note that the new grade you earn upon retaking the course will replace the old grade on your transcript, whether it is higher or lower.

Furthermore, once you decide to retake a course, withdrawal is not an option. It's essential to commit to successfully completing the course.

Exemption

Two Freshman UCs, namely MATH 101 and IF 100, offer exemption exams that closely resemble the final exams of these courses. Exemption exams are scheduled at the beginning of each semester. To stay updated on exemption exam announcements, please refer to mySU.
