CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: TEACHING SCHOLAR RESIDENCY PROGRAM

Sabanci University has joined the global initiative to rethink the role of the faculty and the students in undergraduate education and will adopt scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) that values evidence based student learning.  As an initial step, starting in the Spring of 2014, the Science of Nature (NS 101/102) Courses*** will be offered in a new theme-based and modular format, emphasizing an interdisciplinary and student-centered foundational course structure and expectations.

The Teaching Scholar Residency Program aims to provide an initial professional development opportunity for all graduate students, who are interested in SoTL and are motivated to contribute to the development and implementation of the new NS courses.  To facilitate an effective learner centered course structure, each course will be assigned selected Master Teaching Scholars (MTS), who will directly work with the faculty in course development and assessment. They will also lead training and coordination of peer graduate students. To become a MTS for these new courses, a successful completion of the Teaching Scholar Residency Program is required, details of which are given in the address http://fdd.sabanciuniv.edu/teaching-residency

Application for the Teaching Scholar Residency Program comprises an application form which must be filled and submitted online and an accompanying signed support letter from your graduate research advisor. Both forms are available at http://fdd.sabanciuniv.edu/teaching-residency.

Selection for the Teaching Scholar Residency Program is a competitive review process and space is limited.  All materials must be submitted by FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2013, 5:00 pm. Early submission is encouraged.

Please contact Yuki Kaneko (yuki@sabanciuniv.edu; phone 9709) for further questions.
